Born in Kolkata, artist Sila Biswas initially completed her 'Bachelor of Arts' degree in 2002 from 'Dinabandhu Andrews College' Kolkata under Calcutta University. But in order to continue and give a meaningful shape of her childhood dream of becoming an artist, she got herself admitted to 'College of Visual Art' Kolkata, under 'Indira Kala Sangeet University' Chhattisgarh. Sila received her most coveted B.Fine degree in painting from the said university in 2006. She is the recipient of 'Shilpi Samman Award' in 2023 for her outstanding work exhibited in a multi artists exhibition organized by 'Contemporary Group of Artists'.

       Although at the very beginning of her artistic journey Sila used to paint 'figurative forms' in most of her compositions but later gradually shifted towards abstraction. Her works were first shown at the galleries of 'Lalit Kala Akademi' New Delhi, back in 2004 when she was still an art student. Her most recent exhibitions were held at 'Academy of Fine Arts' Kolkata in August 2023, and quite a few times in 'Rabindranath Tagore Centre' ICCR in 2023, 2022. 2020 and in 2019. The artist lives and works in Kolkata.
