Rajrappa Roy was born in Kolkata in 1980. He holds an MFA degree in painting from 'IKSV' University' in 2008. Earlier he completed his B.Fine in painting in 2006 from 'College of Visual Art' Kolkata, under the same university. In his works, the artist continuously experiments through lines, textures, space & colours to give birth of new abstract forms. The artist is conscious in developing & understanding the complex abstract notions in a simple way, yet aesthetically maintaining the space division and colour balance that is spontaneously generated in his visual language.

      Roy is showered with numerous prestigious awards & accolades in his wonderful artistic journey to date. He was awarded at the 47th annual exhibition of 'Birla Academy of Art & Culture' in 2014, 'Certificate of Excellence' from 'Colours Land Art Akademi' 2014, West Bengal State Academy award 2012 to name a few. His work was showcased at the exhibition titled 'Svikriti' held at 'Birla Academy of Art & Culture' in 2014. The artist has exhibited in his works shows in 'Lalit Kala Akademi' New Delhi, Academy of Fine Arts, Chitrakoot Art Gallery, Chemould Art Gallery in Kolkata. Very recently he has made his presence at the prestigious 'Jehangir Art Gallery' in Mumbai. The artist lives & works in Kolkata.
