
Andrzej Markiewicz
Dr. Andrzej Markiewicz embarked on an enlightening journey at the Institute of Artistic Education within the hallowed halls of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. His odyssey culminated in 1986, where he proudly earned a master’s degree in art education, honing his craft in the vibrant realms of painting and drawing under the esteemed mentorship of Professor Mieczysław Herman. Additionally, he explored the intricate art of graphic design, guided by the talented hand of Professor Stanisław Górecki. His artistic journey has led him to showcase his creations in a remarkable 31 solo exhibitions, while also gracing the collaborative canvas of 254 group exhibitions that traverse borders. His talent has been celebrated in diverse lands such as Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United States, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and even the enchanting shores of Japan.
To date, the artist has received a multitude of awards, including the 2nd Statutory Prize at the ‘1st International Exhibition of Miniatures in Częstochowa 1998’, the Grand Prix at Przedwiośnie 24 in Kielce, the Award of the Marshal of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, the Grand Prix at the 26th National Exhibition of Art Teachers' Creativity held at BWA Rzeszów, an Honorary Distinction at the 5th International Pastel Biennale in Nowy Sącz, the 1st Prize at the 28th National Exhibition of Art Teachers' Creativity at BWA Rzeszów, a Nomination for the Radom Cultural Award in 2015, and an Honorary Mention at the 9th International Miniatures Exhibition in Częstochowa in 2016. He secured 2nd Prize at the 6th International MEAndriolli Drawing Competition in Nałęczów in 2018; received an Honorary Mention at the National Triennial Competition in Still Life in Sieradz in 2018; and was awarded the Radom Cultural Award for the period of 2018 to June 2019.
Dr. Andrzej Markiewicz's works were showcased at both the ‘First’ & ‘Second’ phase of ‘Third Kolkata International Art Exhibition 2025’ or ‘3rd KIAE 2025’ for short, curated by artist ‘Kaushik Gupta’ and were held at ‘Birla Academy of Art & Culture’ and ‘Academy of Fine Arts’ Kolkata, in the months of February and March respectively.
He is currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Art at the University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, where the artist used to live and work.
